Vortex propulsion

Protected electric drive for practical USVs

The Vortex family scales from compact 6S platforms to 10S higher-power builds. Standard ESC and RC PWM compatibility keeps control integration direct and serviceable.

Compact and higher-power architectures

Vortex 400 and Vortex 1100 use an outrunner motor architecture. Vortex 2000 uses an inrunner architecture for the higher power class.

Design priorities

Made for integration and service

Vortex development focuses on protected propulsion, repeatable mounting and direct compatibility with common electric USV control hardware.

01 / PROTECTED

Ducted propulsor

The surrounding duct protects the propeller and provides a defined mechanical mounting envelope.

02 / STANDARD

ESC control

Sensorless brushless motor control supports standard forward and reverse ESC integration.

03 / COMPATIBLE

RC PWM command

Nautix and other compatible flight controllers can provide standard propulsion commands.

04 / SERVICEABLE

Modular installation

Documented mechanical, power and signal interfaces support replacement and platform reuse.

Control path

A simple electric propulsion interface

The control path stays familiar to ArduPilot and RC integrators. Nautix provides the command, the ESC handles motor drive, and the Vortex thruster produces bidirectional propulsion.

01
Autopilot commandNautix or another compatible controller outputs standard RC PWM.
02
Forward and reverse ESCThe sensorless brushless ESC converts the command into three-phase motor drive.
03
Vortex thrusterThe selected power class supplies protected bidirectional thrust.
04
Skid-steer optionA dual-thruster vessel can combine thrust and differential steering commands.

Product development

From working prototypes to repeatable production

Roboteering is prioritizing Vortex 400 production development, followed by Vortex 1100. Higher-power models remain available for engineering discussion as testing and production planning continue.

A / VERIFY

Bench testing

Measure electrical load, thermal behavior, speed and control response under defined conditions.

B / MEASURE

Thrust testing

Develop measured bollard-thrust curves and operating envelopes for each production configuration.

C / PRODUCE

Manufacturing control

Move housings and critical parts toward repeatable tooling, machining and quality checks.
